Mehrdad Amanat

Ph.D., Founder of The Amanat TrustDr. Amanat trained as a Civil Engineer and has been active in the field of housing development in California. He also has earned his Ph.D. in history from UCLA, and is the author of Jewish Identities in Iran: Resistance and Conversion to Islam and the Bahá’í Faith as well as regularly contributing to Encyclopedia Iranica. His objective in founding The Amanat Trust is to give a stronger voice to, and enable targeted action in pursuit of, the causes in the arenas of: social justice, women’s empowerment, support of innovative ideas changing the human condition for the better, the environment, and education.

مهرداد امانت عضو برنامه مطالعات ایرانی دانشگاه کالیفرنیا UCSB و دارای دکترا در رشته تاریخ ایران و خاورمیانه از دانشگاه UCLA می باشد. کتاب او با عنوان

 ,Jewish Identities in Iran: Resistance and Conversion to Islam and the Baha’i Faith

در سال ۲۰۱۱ منتشر شد. ترجمه فارسی این کتاب با عنوان نو دینی و تجدد سال آینده منتشر خواهد شد.

او همچنین نویسنده مقالاتی  در زمینه تاریخ و فرهنگ ایران است. از جمله مقالات او  “ریشه یابی مرده ستیزی در ایران” , “نقش غارت در منازعات شهری” و “روزنه های تجدد در شرح احوال نویسی نودینان” را میتوان نام برد.  مداخل متعددی نیز از او در دانشنامه ایرانیکا منتشر شده که از جمله
